Strong Turnout For 57th Annual Father’s Day Fly-in

- Columbia, CA — A community tradition, the annual Father’s Day Fly-in was held on Saturday at the Columbia Airport.
- Tuolumne County Airport Manager Tonya Scheftner reports that around 5,000 people were in attendance, nearly 50 classic cars, and over 25 vendors.
- Scheftner adds, “People flew from far and wide throughout California to enjoy the cool weather and even cooler planes! The demonstration acts did not disappoint – starting out with a memorable Missing Man Formation; we had 16 pilots and aircraft demonstrating their skills flying in formation above the skies of Columbia in aircraft including Texas AT-6s, T-34 Mentors, a Yak-52, and Biplanes.”
- The national anthem was performed by Mariposa County Fair Rodeo Queen Rayna Rogers and Rodeo Junior Princess Bobbie Persson.
- Another highlight was legendary pilot Julie Clark flying her T-34 Mentor “Free Spirit”.
- The announcers were Star 92.7’s Mark Grauer and aviators Joe Sobczak and Hal Cunningham. Several volunteers also played key roles in putting on the community event.
- It started with a pancake breakfast during the seven o’clock hour, and the Fly-in spanned from 10 am – 3 pm.
